Your CPD Stages

Stage 1 (Voluntary but does offer optional extra CPD points)

  1. Skills Check List (download here)– helps you to identify which skills you would like to learn or develop over the course of the next year

  2. The CPD Development Plan download here   - Use this development plan to enable you to plan how you would like to achieve your skills needs, goals and targets you have identified.  Here you can also set timescales to achieve your skills, goals and targets.

Stage 2 (Compulsory for all members  - CPD1, CPDm & CPDmf*)

  1. Individual Training Record download here (ITR) – An ITR needs to be completed for each course undertaken or learning experience accomplished.  For long term courses please complete an ITR for every term completed. (*for CPDmf member the ITR are not compulsory)

  2. CPD Summary Record download here This form records in brief all your ITR records in one sheet and your allocated unstructured and structured CPD points.

- Please note that for the purposes of quality control individual portfolios may be called for by the External Verifier for assessment.

Structured Training - Definition: Points can be claimed through structured training by attendance at conferences, seminars and workshops etc involving active contribution. Preparation for relevant articles or presentations. Choose from the following drop down boxes and points available and don’t forget to add a description of your training.

Unstructured Training – Definition:  Any form of learning where there is no interaction with other individuals. Includes: media based training, technical research, reading journal/ agricultural press.

We are constantly updating our points listing so please do not hesitate to contact the office if you cannot see a training activity or on the job learning experience and we will be able to advise.

Additional CPD Notes:

1.    Minimum CPD points required in this year are as follows:-

CPD 1 members   = 15 points  

CPDm Members   = 12 points

CPD mf Members = 12 points.

  • CPD1 is the entry level for Members.   It is also recommended for new Associates as supporting evidence for their application for full Membership.  Successful completion of CPD1 entitles a Member to use M IAgSA after their name and to use the logo on their stationery.  In order to maintain this grade CPD must be completed annually.
  • CPDm is the maintenance level followed by those who have completed CPD1 in previous years.  CPDm level is for members who record CPD for 2 - 4 years
  • CPDmf relates to members who have successfully completed CPD for 5 or more years, and these members can complete a reduced amount of paperwork as a result.  

2.    Evidence supporting your CPD activities should be cross referenced and filed in your CPD portfolio held at home in case of an inspection from an external CPD assessor.

3.    Points cannot be carried over from one year to another.

4.    Any relevant activity not listed can be considered – please call the office if you have a query.

5.     A Individual Training Record should be completed for all structured and unstructured training, but is not required for Additional Activities.  Points should be allocated to each Individual Training Record and summarised in your Development record.

6.    CPD Incapacity Form is available to candidates who were through circumstances out of their control feel that they will not be able to meet the point’s requirement for a particular CPD year.  If you require an incapacity form, please contact Emma at the office on t: 01926 485543.
