Continuing Professional Development
CPD FAQ
Why CPD?
Professionals engaged in any area of business, including Agriculture, are increasingly recognising the benefits of adopting a planned and structured approach to the maintenance and upgrading of their skills.
The existing skills of Rural Business Administrators need to be kept updated, but there is also the necessity to gain new knowledge in response to the challenge of the ongoing changes within Agriculture.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a non compulsory scheme that is open to all IAgSA members. It is monitored by an External Assessor. The Scheme is designed to acknowledge those members who are constantly upgrading their professional development by increasing their knowledge through planned and constructive learning. The members with this CPD recognition for their updated and improved skills then have an advantage in the market place.
What's in it for me?
Development of your weaker skills. Improved ability and performance in your current job. Confidence and ability to face changes within your career. The opportunity to attend CPD workshops along with other Rural Business Administrators and benefit from the discussion. The monthly IAgSA Bulletin exchanges relevant information in CPD Corner.
Grading of CPD
CPD 1 is the entry level for Members. It is also recommended for Affiliates as supporting evidence for their application for full Membership. Successful completion of CPD1 enables a Member to be upgraded to an Associate Member, and use AIAgSA after their name. In order to maintain this grade CPDm must be completed annually.
CPDm is the maintenance level followed by Associate and Fellow members. The CPD year runs from 1st October through to the 30th September. CPDmf relates to members who have successfully completed CPD for five or more years, and these members can complete a reduced amount of paperwork as a result. Any members who wish to participate can do so free of charge. Further details and registration forms are available from The Secretary at Stoneleigh.
