Leading the Way in Farm Business Administration

The first IAgSA Rural Business Administration Programme Taking the industry lead, the Institute of Agricultural Secretaries and Administrators (IAgSA), has developed an intensive farm business administration training course, accredited by Lantra Awards, which focuses on raising the standard of farming knowledge as well as achieving professionally administered farm records.

The two-day IAgSA Farming Knowledge and Farm Records for Crop & Livestock training modules took place for the first time at the head offices of the NFU Mutual in Warwickshire on 25 & 26 June 2011. Delegates came from across the UK and from various backgrounds, from professional accountants to newly employed farm estate secretaries or agricultural degree students. “The training was challenging and we covered a vast number of topics, from cross compliance through to movement records, however, what the course also gave me as a professional agricultural accountant was the farming knowledge I need to be able to assist my clients more effectively.“ Karen Stallard, The Hutchinson Partnership, Herefordshire.

“The need for keeping well managed and accurate farm records has never been more paramount within the agricultural sector, with errors or missed deadlines resulting in losses surmounting to hundreds of thousands of pounds to farm businesses up and down the UK…… and it is vitally important that in an industry that is constantly changing that we, as a professional body promoting excellence in rural business administration, can provide our members with the on-going support and training they need to be able to professionally and confidently carry out the vast array of legislative and records keeping requirements for their farming client. The new IAgSA training programme offers the solid basis required for any farm secretary, farmer or agent looking to administer and manage farm records by setting a standard entry for industry.” Cathy Meredith, IAgSA Council member and IAgSA Farm Business Administration programme lead and course tutor.
